Welcome to day one of Sew Grateful week hosted by the awesome Debi of My Happy Sewing Place. I started really reading her blog around the time she posted about this week and I loved the idea of it and knew immediately I wanted to take part. It's such an awesome idea to give back to the online sewing community and although my blog isn't read by many people at present I like to think that the few who do get something out of it, in the way that I've done so from the many blogs that I follow. Without this online community there would be many skills and ideas that I would never have thought of and such a lack of inspiration to keep me sewing at the rate I do!
Day 1 of Sew Grateful week is to host a giveaway to show your appreciation to the sewing community. My giveaway is small but hopefully it will find a welcome new home.
These are two vintage patterns I've had in my stash for a while that I've never done anything with and I'd much rather than they went to someone who could use them as I don't see myself doing so. Both are complete and in good condition.
The first is a simple dress by Maudella Patterns and from the browsing I've done online, dates back to the 1940's. Maudella patterns was established in 1937 in West Yorkshire and set out to make fashionable patterns for home and professional dressmakers before being re-branded as New Look patterns that we know today. It's sized as a 36" bust, 40" hip and has not instruction sheet but rather a short blurb on the front of the envelope.
The second is a Vogue pattern, which I've worked out to be from 1953 and is a bed jacket, however I'm sure in the right fabric could make a lovely summer/evening cape. This is sized medium, marked 36-38 with a loose fit.
The giveaway will run until next Monday (11/02/2013) at 5pm and I have only one condition for entry; that is that you are a follower of my blog. To enter simply leave a comment below with how you follow and email address so I can get in touch with you if you win!
I'd like to share my blog with a wider audience and hope that this week may be a way in which to do so. I'm also hoping to find other smaller unknown blogs to follow and grow the community I can interact with.
