In case you've forgotten, here's what PPP is all about:
Here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, we believe in supporting independent pattern designers. It’s our opinion that indie patterns are just, well, better than big box patterns, and we’re pretty sure our customers think so too. So, we allow customers to show their support in naming their own price for each Parcel. We also encourage customers to allocate part of their Parcel price to the charity Donorschoose.org in order to help classrooms in need. Pattern Parcel donates all profits after expenses from Parcel sales to the charity as well. Together we've raised almost $4,500 towards eliminating educational inequality.

If that's enough for you, click on this button to go through to the sale and get your hands on this awesome bundle of patterns!

So which of these did I choose to make?  The Bombshell Swimsuit by Closet Case Files of course!  Last year when this pattern really took off, I'd already been on holiday and had no reason to make myself a swimsuit.  But with my summer holiday only a few days away (excited much?!) I knew I had to make one this year.

I'm not going to lie and say this was an easy make for me.  I totally messed up my first attempt.  I second guessed how the construction went ended up with the lining on the outer.  **note to self, start reading instructions!**  So today in work, I bought some more lycra and carefully studied the pattern before starting again.  And this time, it sewed up a treat!  Oh my gosh, it's a beauty and if you follow the instructions properly, it's very straight forward to make.  Heather Lou, you are an amazing lady, and I can only but thank you for this wonderful pattern!  I think I'm going to need to get my hands on Nettie!

The lycra I used is a Liberty of London Print from work.  It's a 78% Poly, 22% lycra blend, meaning that it has the perfect amount of stretch for this swimsuit.  For lining I used a remnant of white lycra that I found in the shop.   All in I used 1m of the Liberty (and put a join in the front crotch piece) and 0.65m of the white.  So really it's not a fabric heavy project.  What does make it trickier is the gathering.  I've got to say I was a little skeptical of gathering a stretch with a long straight stitch (I normally gather stretch fabrics with elastic) but it worked out fine.  Be prepared to go through A LOT of thread with all the gathers and locking stitches!  But other than that, there's really nothing to note!

I'm totally in love with this swimsuit and can't wait to get wearing it on the ship/beach next week!  Also, I'm not sorry there are no pics of me wearing it.  The internet doesn't need to see that!  If I get brave, an in action instagram of it may appear whilst I'm away! hah

So all that's left for me to say is head on over to the Perfect Pattern Parcel website and get this amazing bundle for yourself whilst helping out a great cause!

    1. Thanks Jill! I loved this parcel, was soo difficult to choose what to make! I'm also thinking a staple dress needs to be made if I have time this week! And Liberty literally do all kinds of fabric! We got random sweatshirtings in this weekend along with loads of other lawns, silks, wools and jersey! I would happily sew exclusively in Liberty if I could afford it!

    1. Thanks! Honestly it's not difficult at all to sew with. It's much easier than jersey cause it's more stable so there's no awkward stretching different amounts in all different directions! Once you try I'm sure you'll be converted :)
